Wow! Time sure does fly by fast. With this year coming to an end, we feel it’s the right time to write about the top 3 digital piano brands as of 2012. There are many brands you’ve likely heard of. These include Roland, Casio, Yamaha, Korg, Kurzweil, Clavia, Williams, and Kawai. But 3 of these brands are not only the most popular and best-selling, but have topped in the industry. These brands are none other than Casio, Yamaha, and Roland – all of which are Japanese.

While industry veterans Yamaha and Roland have been ahead of the game for a long time, Casio has made significant improvements over the recent years. Casio has specially done well in low-end and mid-end digital pianos based on popularity, and even quality. It’s fair to say that Casio is rapidly rising and on a par with both Yamaha and Roland.

Yamaha Digital Piano Reviews:

Yamaha is the most well-known musical instruments manufacturer in the world. Now a multinational corporation with a wide range of products, Yamaha was founded in 1887 as a piano and reed organ manufacturer. It has grown to become the largest musical instrument manufacturer in the world. They’ve gained their reputation by developing high-quality digital pianos as well as using brilliant marketing. It’s no wonder that their instruments are successful, and well-respected.

Roland was founded in Osaka, Japan in 1972. Unlike Yamaha’s diverse product range, Roland only specializes in electronic musical instruments, audio/video equipment, and software. Their very first digital piano, the RD-1000, was released in 1986, and notably used by Elton John. Their instruments have long been the preferred choice of stage musicians mostly due to their reliability. Today, they continue to make one of the finest digital instruments.

Casio is a well-known for their calculators. This Tokyo-based corporation was originally founded in 1946. They introduced their first musical instrument, the CT-201, in 1980. Ever since, they’ve continued making instruments and have become popular recently. Today, their Privia, and Celviano line of digital pianos are very popular and have proven to be a success for the company. They offer high quality instruments for reasonable prices. This makes them excellent for those on a budget, while still getting great quality.
